Musee Mecanique’s “Laughing Sal” is one of the stranger sailors on Pier 45

Musee Mecanique “Laughing Sal”

Embarcadero, Pier 45, Shed A
San Francisco, CA
“Zippy the Pinhead” location

Located on Pier 45 at the Fisherman’s Wharf, there are over 300 vintage and novel coin operated machines, collected by the late Edward Galland Zelinsky, who started his collection at the ripe old age of 11.

From turn of the century hand cranked music boxes to modern video arcade games, you can still insert quarters in the machines of your choice. Check out “Laffing Sal”, “Susie the Can-Can Dancer” and the fascinating “Carnival.”

A “Zippy the Pinhead” comic strip location – “She Who Laughs, Lasts.” Zippy visited Laughing Sal at the Musee Mecanique in San Francisco.
