Union Station – Route 66 meets Amtrak

Union Station

You may remember the famous baby carriage on the stairs scene in “The Untouchables.” The magnificent Union Station is located between westbound and eastbound Route 66. Originally designed by famed architect Daniel Burnham, (”Make no small plans, they have no magic to stir men’s blood.”) who died before the construction started. It was completed in 1925.

The Great Hall is considered to be one of the greatest indoor spaces in the United States with the barrel-vaulted skylight.
