Ride the dragon

Carousel on the National Mall

Located in front of the Smithsonian castle, this colorful carousel was built in 1947 by the Allan Herschell Co. It was placed on the Mall in 1891 and features 60 horses (including my favorite, a Sea Dragon.) Before the carousel arrived, it was a popular attraction at Gwynn Oak Amusement Park in Woodlawn, Md.
